Former French minister Bruno Le Maire is considering a return to politics and a potential candidacy in the 2027 presidential election, political editorialist Éric Decouty reported on LCI on Friday, August 7. Decouty spoke with the former minister under Emmanuel Macron in Jarnac at the start of the summer about his future plans.
During their conversation, Decouty asked Le Maire if he planned to relaunch his political career. Le Maire smiled and said he intended to play his part, and when asked about his ambitions for the 2027 presidential election, he replied that people would see in September.
Potential Candidates and Political Race
Decouty said a presidential bid by Le Maire was credible. He noted that Le Maire did not really like Gabriel Attal and liked Édouard Philippe even less, adding that people close to Le Maire said there was space in the race and he was ready to take it.
LCI will also broadcast a major debate on August 27 featuring seven declared or prospective candidates for the 2027 presidential election.
