The collection was written by 10 visually impaired children aged between 7 and 13. The young poets address topics including nature, maternal love and friendship in their work.

The new edition will make its debut in September at the Honduras International Book Fair. Later in the same month, the volume will be presented at the Santo Domingo International Book Fair in the Dominican Republic.

The book will be available to readers free of charge, adhering to the standard model applied to all publications produced by the foundation. Keila González Báez, the founder of Futuros Autores del Mundo, said the organisation opens doors for children to write and gives everyone an opportunity to read, ensuring that money is not an impediment to consuming literature.

History of the collection

This release follows the launch of the first volume of Más allá de la Visión in 2023. The inaugural edition was introduced to the public for the first time at the Guadalajara International Book Fair in Mexico.

The annual event in Guadalajara is regarded as one of the largest Spanish-language book fairs in the world, providing a global platform for authors, publishers and cultural initiatives. Braille, developed in the 19th century, is a tactile writing system using embossed dots that allows blind and visually impaired individuals to read through touch.

Collaborators and sponsors

The second volume of the collection was produced through a collaboration with the Pilar Salinas school and the General Directorate of Books and Documents of Honduras.

Funding and backing for the initiative were provided by Editorial Bienetre, Banco Popular, Seabord Dominicana, and the support division of the Olga Estrella Resource Center of the Dominican Republic.

Futuros Autores del Mundo is based in Santo Domingo, the capital city of the Dominican Republic, where educational and non-profit organisations frequently partner with regional institutions across Central America and the Caribbean to improve literacy access.
