Anna Vissi Paid Nikos Karvelas 300,000 Euros Before Show

Singer Anna Vissi paid 300,000 euros to composer Nikos Karvelas before her concert at OAKA, lawyer Michalis Dimitrakopoulos confirmed on Tuesday.

Speaking on the morning television show To Proino on October 6, Dimitrakopoulos rejected rumors of legal action or a backstage dispute between the long-time artistic partners. He said that the sum had been transferred into Karvelas's bank account prior to the stadium show and declared that the pair will not go to court.

Dimitrakopoulos explained that the payment of around 300,000 euros was made through a collective self-management organization that administers rights for creators, producers, and lyricists. The funds were paid directly to Karvelas by the production company owned by business figures Giannis Koustas and Dimitra Kousta.

Denial of backstage confrontation

The lawyer addressed circulating reports claiming that Karvelas had stormed into Vissi's dressing room during the concert and caused a scene. Dimitrakopoulos called this information completely false, asserting that no incident occurred between the two artists during the live event.

Karvelas chose not to attend the performance at the Olympic Athletic Center of Athens (OAKA) entirely of his own accord, according to the lawyer. Dimitrakopoulos stated that Karvelas made his decision for personal reasons that the lawyer would not discuss publicly, adding that no one had attempted to bar Karvelas from attending.

Dimitrakopoulos warned that anyone asserting that Vissi, Giannis Koustas, or Dimitra Kousta prohibited Karvelas from entering was lying and should stop spreading such claims. He reiterated that Karvelas did not enter Vissi's dressing room and that no argument took place.

Absence of legal disputes

The attorney stated that there are currently no financial differences or pending monetary claims between Vissi, the production company, and Karvelas. He added that as long as he represents Vissi, it is impossible for the two musicians to face each other in a courtroom.

Dimitrakopoulos noted that no extrajudicial notices or lawsuits exist between the parties, nor will any be filed in the future. He explained that legal proceedings occur between adversaries, a status that has never applied to Vissi and Karvelas. He also noted that although no written contract was executed between the two, all verbal agreements have been fully respected.

Vissi is a veteran Greek recording artist with a career spanning pop and traditional music, while Karvelas is a prominent Greek composer and songwriter who has written many of her biggest hit records. Over several decades, the duo has formed one of the most successful creative partnerships in Greek popular music.

Financial loss and upcoming Athens performance

Regarding the concert at OAKA, Dimitrakopoulos disclosed that the event did not generate a profit and instead operated at a financial loss. Because the stadium performance recorded a loss rather than a profit, no fee distributions could be made from concert revenues, he explained.

Despite the financial outcome of the stadium concert, Vissi is moving forward with a major new project scheduled for October 27 and October 28 in Athens. Dimitrakopoulos described the upcoming project as a significant event by Athens standards and noted that Karvelas's participation is required for its success, a fact he said Karvelas understands.

When asked about Vissi's emotional reaction to recent public rumors, Dimitrakopoulos declined to discuss her feelings, stating that personal emotions constitute private data.
