Amazfit Adds Internet Radio to Smartwatches, With a Catch

Amazfit smartwatches can now stream internet radio through a new app called WatchFM, giving users another way to play music without loading tracks onto the device. Notebookcheck reported the update.

The feature is not fully standalone. WatchFM requires a smartphone running the Zepp app in the background along with an active Bluetooth connection. Even if the watch is connected to Wi-Fi, radio streaming does not work without the phone nearby.

Limited station lineup for now

The service currently offers a limited selection of stations, including Australia's SBS PopAsia and America's KIIS FM. Playback continues in the background, and users can view listening statistics, adjust settings and monitor battery level.

WatchFM currently works only with Amazfit smartwatches that have round displays. The app already runs smoothly on the Amazfit Cheetah 2 Pro. The developer has said support for models with rectangular screens will come in future updates.

Amazfit recently enabled replying to iPhone messages directly from its smartwatches. The company also introduced the Balance 3 and Balance Ultra models, which offer up to 30 days of battery life, and has said some Amazfit devices will receive their final updates in 2026.
