Three arrested on human trafficking and pimping charges in Xanthi

Police in Xanthi, Greece, arrested two foreign nationals and one Greek woman on charges including human trafficking, sexual exploitation, pimping, attempted rape, and weapons offences, according to authorities.

The investigation began after a woman filed a complaint about sexual offences committed against her. Officers from Xanthi’s Crime Investigation and Detection Department established that one of the foreign nationals had illegally smuggled the woman into Greece the previous week and forced her to work at a shop in the city, sexually exploiting her for illegal financial gain.

The shop’s owner and cashier were subsequently arrested. Police said that between 24 and 29 July, the owner provided a specially arranged space on the premises for sexual acts with customers, while the cashier collected payment for those acts.

All three were brought before the court.
