Alleged Grand Theft Auto 6 videos leaked online this week showing map details, combat, and gameplay features.

Take-Two Interactive has issued legal subpoenas to Microsoft and Discord through a federal court in New York as part of an investigation into unauthorized leaks of Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay footage.

The parent company of game developer Rockstar Games is seeking internal corporate records and user identification data to pinpoint the individuals responsible for publishing the videos online this week.

The leaked footage exposed extensive details about the anticipated title, showing early gameplay elements including the game map, flight mechanics, an honor system, and close combat mechanics.

Demands for user data and internal records

Take-Two filed the legal requests through the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, demanding that both technology platforms hand over internal documents to assist in identifying the leakers.

According to court filings, the subpoenaed materials encompass a wide range of proprietary content, including audiovisual files, artwork, still images, character dialogues, and other creative assets.

Take-Two set an urgent deadline of September 4 for Microsoft to produce all relevant records linked to the suspect. The legal filing also targets Discord users who communicated within specific server channels tied to the leak.

The subpoenas instruct both companies to disclose specific user account identifiers, including account IDs, email addresses, IP addresses, telephone numbers, and linked third-party profiles such as Xbox and Google accounts.

Official gameplay reveal scheduled on Netflix

The leaks surfaced shortly before Take-Two planned to launch its official promotional campaign for the game. Rockstar Games is scheduled to release official Grand Theft Auto 6 gameplay footage on August 27 exclusively through Netflix.

Take-Two Interactive is a major American video game publisher based in New York City, best known as the owner of Rockstar Games. Its Grand Theft Auto series is one of the most successful franchises in the global video game industry.
