The actor, known for his roles in the Russian television series Chernobyl: Zone of Exclusion and Olga, revealed the financial crisis on his personal Instagram account. He explained that he owed 24 million rubles to a credit organisation and is struggling to support his family while trying to deal with the heavy loan balance.

Romanovich said that he is haunted by a constant fear of being left without a roof over his head. He shared that the situation feels as though one will end up homeless and die of hunger, but stressed that anxiety and fear will not help and that he must keep moving forward.

Addressing people who find themselves in similar circumstances, the actor advised anyone confronting severe financial problems to take action despite their fear.

Television career and social media disclosure

Romanovich built his public profile across Russian television over the past decade. He gained widespread recognition playing a leading role in Chernobyl: Zone of Exclusion, a sci-fi mystery drama that followed a group of young people travelling into the contaminated disaster zone around the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, before appearing regularly in the popular comedy series Olga.

He published his admission on Instagram, the photo and video sharing platform owned by American technology firm Meta. Russian authorities have banned the network and designated Meta as an extremist organisation, though public figures in Russia continue to maintain accounts to communicate directly with audiences.

Hollywood ambitions and Yura Borisov

Beyond his domestic screen career, Romanovich has previously spoken about his ambitions to perform internationally. He stated that he had dreamed of acting in Hollywood since he was a child.

Romanovich also admitted to feeling envy toward the successful Western career of fellow Russian actor Yura Borisov. Borisov has earned international critical acclaim in recent years through leading roles in European and American cinema, including the Cannes Grand Prix winner Compartment No. 6 and the Palme d'Or-winning film Anora.

Despite the mounting financial pressure and his fears of poverty, Romanovich maintained that he has to confront the 24 million ruble debt directly, repeating his conviction that moving forward is the only way to protect his family and survive the crisis.
