Ryan García and Conor Benn are set to fight for the World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight title, according to Campodelgas, the boxing segment broadcast on the Spanish radio programme El Partidazo de COPE.
The same edition of the segment, aired on 11 September 2026 and presented by Jaime Ugarte and José Luis Garci, also reported that Katie Taylor is bowing out of the sport in style, and that Canelo Álvarez is training in Gandía, on Spain's eastern coast, ahead of his fight against Mbilli.
Ryan García and Conor Benn meet for the WBC belt
García is an American boxer who has held versions of world titles across multiple weight divisions during his career. Benn is a British fighter and the son of former world champion Nigel Benn.
The WBC is one of boxing's four major sanctioning bodies, alongside the WBA, IBF and WBO, and its welterweight division covers fighters up to 147lbs.
Katie Taylor's farewell to boxing
Campodelgas said Katie Taylor, the Irish fighter who became undisputed world champion at lightweight, is ending her career on a high note. The segment gave no further detail on the timing or opponent for her farewell.
Taylor turned professional in 2016 after a decorated amateur career that included an Olympic gold medal, and went on to unify the major lightweight world titles.
Canelo Álvarez trains in Gandía for Mbilli fight
According to the segment, Canelo Álvarez is preparing for his bout against Mbilli at a training camp in Gandía, a coastal town in Spain's Valencia region. Álvarez, from Mexico, is a reigning super middleweight world champion. Mbilli is a super middleweight contender who has featured in that division's title picture.
