Mafer Portugal, daughter of Peruvian cumbia singer Tommy Portugal, performed her final concert with the group Papillón in Chiclayo on July 31, 2026, weeks after she announced she was leaving the band, saying she had been harassed by some of her colleagues.
Social media users pointed out that while several of her bandmates embraced her warmly during the farewell, three of the group's singers did not approach her to say goodbye.
Mafer Portugal and her Papillón bandmates took part in Cumbia Fest Chiclayo 2026, held at Estadio Monsefú on July 31, alongside the groups Armonía 10 and Caribeños de Guadalupe.

Warm goodbyes from some bandmates
Portugal, who stepped away from Papillón for the sake of her emotional wellbeing, appeared visibly moved during her last show, where she received affection from fellow singers Dian del Prado, Anthony Rivera, Sandra Katiuska and Nicole Flores, as well as some of the group's musicians and staff members.
According to images shared on social media, the singers who chose not to say goodbye to Portugal were Fiorella Castillo, Karen Peña and Claudia Salazar. Salazar had previously announced her own departure from the group La Bella Luz in January 2025, saying at the time that she needed to prioritize her wellbeing and peace of mind.
Harassment complaint led to her exit
Portugal's announcement that she was leaving Papillón drew wide attention. She said the decision had not been easy to make, and that she had unfortunately suffered harassment from some of her colleagues and their relatives, which led her to make her peace of mind a priority.
She added that she was leaving grateful for the opportunity and confident that she had given her best in every performance.

Background on the singer
Portugal joined Papillón at the end of October 2025. She became known for her rendition of the song 'Me extrañarás,' which went viral. Papillón is one of several Peruvian cumbia groups linked to Tommy Portugal, a longtime figure in the genre.
