Jake Reiner has spoken publicly for the first time about the December 2025 murders of his parents, Rob and Michelle Reiner, in Los Angeles.
Speaking in an extensive interview with KABC-TV, he described the profound toll of losing both parents and seeing his brother, Nick Reiner, arrested in connection with the killings.
Jake Reiner said that no one can truly understand what it is like to experience such a tragedy until they go through it themselves. Reflecting on the eight months since the murders, he added that time feels contradictory, seeming like eight years on one hand and just eight minutes on the other, as he wakes up every morning facing his reality once again.
Recalling the moment he learned of the tragedy, Jake said his sister, Romy Reiner, informed him that their father was dead before adding that she could not find their mother. He expressed the grief of losing more than half his family, noting that after the death of his parents and the arrest of Nick, only he and Romy remain.
Grand Jury Indictment and Legal Proceedings
Both Jake and Romy Reiner previously testified before a grand jury in Los Angeles. Following their testimony, the grand jury indicted Nick Reiner on two counts of first-degree murder in connection with his parents' deaths.
Nick Reiner remains in custody without bail at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility, operated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. Prior court reporting indicates he faced a new aggravating indictment in August 2026, after having requested access in June to a trust fund exceeding 1.5 million dollars to assist in funding his legal defense.
