Russian consumers should not expect a sharp drop in Apple smartphone prices immediately following the release of the iPhone 18 lineup, according to industry analyst Ilya Korneychuk.

Korneychuk, the lead presenter of the Russian technology YouTube channel Pro Hi-Tech, told the National News Service (NSN) that the new generation of Apple devices will reach Russia on the same evening global sales begin, as has traditionally occurred with previous releases. However, he emphasized that buyers expecting a sharp price cut on previous-generation models will be disappointed.
Price Outlook for Previous iPhone Models
Speaking to the agency, Korneychuk predicted that the cost of iPhone 17 series smartphones will decline slowly rather than dropping immediately after the launch. He noted that older iPhone models will become significantly cheaper only after several weeks or potentially months following the retail debut of the new lineup.
Korneychuk added that users will still have the opportunity to acquire even the newly released smartphones at reasonable prices if they exercise patience. He concluded that buyers who do not rush to purchase a new product on the first day can buy both the new model and previous-generation gadgets at lower costs, noting that this dynamic has always applied to Apple sales.
Pro Hi-Tech is a prominent Russian video channel focused on consumer electronics, smartphone benchmarks, and digital gadget news. National News Service, a Russian news agency, regularly reports on consumer market expectations, import trends, and retail developments across the country.
Apple Foldable Device Predictions
Addressing widespread industry speculation regarding Apple's future product lineup, the tech blogger expressed confidence that the company will not introduce a foldable smartphone during its September presentation. He attributed this decision to Apple's strict internal standards regarding product quality and design aesthetics.
According to Korneychuk, Apple cannot take action to release a foldable model yet because company executives are closely monitoring rival manufacturers. He explained that Apple observes the visible crease in the middle of competing foldable smartphones and understands that such a design feature is unesthetic.
Apple Inc., based in Cupertino, California, designs and manufactures consumer electronics, computer software, and mobile devices. The annual unveiling of its flagship iPhone models is one of the most closely watched events in the global tech calendar, driving retail demand across international markets.
Upcoming September Launch Presentation
At the end of August, Apple announced that it will hold its next official product launch event on September 9. Industry observers expect the presentation to showcase the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max smartphones, as well as a foldable smartphone and other next-generation hardware.
