The new Dominican Republic Minister of Foreign Affairs, Víctor (Ito) Bisonó, received the United States Ambassador to the country, Leah Francis Campos, for bilateral talks at foreign ministry headquarters in Santo Domingo on Tuesday.
The meeting was held to reaffirm the commitment of both nations to maintaining permanent dialogue and advancing their shared bilateral agenda, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the session at the ministry, known as Cancillería, Bisonó and Ambassador Campos reviewed opportunities to further broaden binational ties and deepen strategic cooperation between the two countries.
Bisonó stated that the Dominican Republic and the United States maintain a solid relationship built on mutual respect, friendship, and cooperation that has generated major benefits for both nations.
The foreign minister highlighted that both countries share fundamental values, including democracy, freedom, and the defense of national sovereignty. He added that both governments remain committed to working together to foster regional stability and economic prosperity.
According to the ministry, the official meeting provided a platform to address key bilateral interests and explore avenues for strengthening exchange across priority sectors.

The United States serves as one of the primary partners for the Dominican Republic, maintaining substantial economic ties through trade, foreign investment, and development cooperation. The Caribbean nation, which shares the island of Hispaniola with Haiti, also maintains deep social links with the United States due to significant migration and cultural exchange.
