A 27-year-old mother in Sergiyev Posad has been charged with attempted murder after pushing her three-year-old daughter off a ninth-floor balcony on August 10. The woman was intoxicated and in an apartment on Moskovskoye Shosse with her two children when she pushed the girl over the balcony railing.
The child survived the fall but suffered injuries of varying severity. Doctors are currently providing the girl with necessary medical assistance.
A neighbor told REN TV in a video that she heard noise coming from the neighboring apartment during the quiet night. She described hearing hysterical screams from the child, who repeatedly shouted asking her mother to stop before a loud crash sounded.
Looking down, the neighbor saw a large dent on a metal canopy beneath the balcony and the child lying nearby. Another local resident said the mother had been seen drunk on a bench with unknown people shortly before the incident.
Police investigation and background
The mother admitted her guilt and expressed remorse to investigators, but she was unable to state a motive for the crime. Authorities will conduct forensic medical, psychological-psychiatric, molecular-genetic, and biological examinations, and they have seized outdoor surveillance footage for review.
The father of the injured girl is serving a prison sentence for hooliganism.
