Russian television presenter Dmitry Dibrov has described people who criticize him on the internet as mongrels during an interview with regional channel Moskva 24.
Speaking on the Moscow news station, the media personality compared individuals who post negative comments online to yard dogs that bark because they are unable to give birth to St. Bernards themselves. He added that he views criticism strictly as a formal literary discipline rather than anonymous digital commentary.
Literary Critics and Internet Commentators
Dibrov stated that a true critic is exemplified by Vissarion Belinsky, the prominent nineteenth-century Russian literary scholar. Belinsky is widely recognized in Russian cultural history for his influential essays on classical authors including Alexander Pushkin and Nikolai Gogol.
In contrast, the veteran television host argued that commentators on online platforms fail to meet the standard of genuine criticism. He concluded his remarks by stating that people posting on the internet cannot be considered critics at all.
Dibrov, a long-serving broadcaster who has hosted major entertainment programs on Russian national television networks for decades, made the comments during a broader broadcast discussion. Moskva 24 is a 24-hour regional news channel operating in the Russian capital that regularly features interviews with cultural figures, journalists, and public personalities.
Previous Clashes With Journalists
The interview is not the first time Dibrov has drawn attention for sharp responses to commentary. The television host previously insulted journalist Gera Ivashchenko after Ivashchenko questioned him about his personal health and heart problems.
Following that exchange, Dibrov stated publicly that he had no desire to interact or have any further dealings with Ivashchenko.
Suburban Property Valuation
Prior to the dispute with Ivashchenko, the presenter also addressed public questions concerning his residential property in Podmoskovye, the suburban region surrounding the Russian capital. The area, officially known as Moscow Oblast, is widely recognized for housing suburban estates and countryside residences owned by prominent media figures.
Dibrov explained why he had listed his suburban home at a significantly inflated market price. The television presenter admitted that he had set the price tag artificially high because he has no actual intention of selling the property.
