Zelensky to Erdogan: Kyiv will remain a guarantor of food security

The Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky said today that he discussed cooperation on security and energy issues with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan and assured him that Ukraine will remain a guarantor of global food security.

“On the phone with President Erdogan we praised the extension of the grain agreement,” he tweeted after extending a deal aimed at reducing global food shortages by helping Ukraine export agricultural products from Black Sea ports blocked by Russia.

“I thanked him for supporting our Grains Initiative from Ukraine and assured him that Ukraine will remain a guarantor of food stability.” Cooperation in the fields of security and energy was also discussed, the Ukrainian president said.
