Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said tonight that responsibility for the implementation of the agreement on the export of Ukrainian grain rests with the United Nations.
“The whole world understands that Russia could engage in provocative actions, in attempts to undo Ukrainian and international efforts. But we trust the UN. Now it is its responsibility to guarantee that the agreement is respected,” Zelensky said in his daily address. .
According to the Ukrainian president, the agreement fully serves the interests of the country. He even noted that the Ukrainian army will control “100% access to the ports”.
Based on the agreement signed today by the two sides, it will be possible to export approximately 20 million tons of last year’s harvest as well as this year’s. “This is about the income of farmers, the entire agricultural sector and the state budget. We are talking about jobs. We currently have about $10 billion worth of grain,” Zelensky explained.
“There is a chance to reduce the severity of the food crisis caused by Russia and prevent a global catastrophe, a famine that would lead to political chaos in many countries of the world, especially those that help us,” he added.
“This is new proof that Ukraine is capable of resisting this war,” he concluded.
