This Monday (11), the American Zac Efron received his star on the Walk of Fame, in Hollywood. The actor began his career at Disney and stood out with the role of Troy Bolton in the “High School Musical” trilogy.
At 36 years old, Zac Efron has already directed several films such as “Neighbors”, “The Greatest Showman”, “Hairspray”, “17 Again”, “A Lucky Man”, among others. His next feature film hits theaters in the United States on the 22nd. “The Iron Claw“, directed by Sean Durkin, does not yet have a release date in Brazil.

How does an artist get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame?
According to the official website, anyone, including a fan, can nominate a celebrity to receive the honor. However, the fan can only nominate the artist as long as the artist himself or his manager agrees with the nomination.
If there is no letter of agreement from the celebrity or their representative, the committee will not accept the application.
Each year, more or less, two hundred applications are received and the nomination period for 2024 has already closed.
The Walk of Fame includes six categories:
- Films
- Television
- Radio
- Recording
- Theatre/Live performance
- Sports Entertainment
Additionally, all nominations must include the following documents:
- Photo of the nominee
- Brief biography and qualifications
- List of contributions to the community and civic participation of the nominee
- Letter of agreement from the nominee or his administration
After the nomination, a vote takes place, scheduled annually in June. An average of 24 to 30 stars are selected each year. Once chosen, the celebrity has two years to schedule their ceremony. If this period expires, a new request will have to be made.
The criteria for receiving a star consist of: professional achievement, longevity in the category of five years or more, contributions to the community and the guarantee that the celebrity will attend the dedication ceremony if selected.
For the ceremony, it will be necessary to pay an amount of US$75,000 (approximately 371 thousand reais) to manufacture and install the star, in addition to paying for any maintenance. The public is always welcome to watch the star’s inclusion on the Walk of Fame for free.
It is also worth mentioning that a deceased artist can also be nominated and a posthumous award is given each year. However, a waiting period of 2 years from the date of death is required for indication.
