The Prime Minister of Armenia Nicole Pasinian greeted her today Joe Biden’s historic decision to formally recognize the Armenian Genocide.
THE Πασινιάν thanked the US president in a Facebook post for this “very powerful step towards justice and historical truth”, which offers “invaluable support to the descendants of the victims of the Armenian Genocide.”
The recognition of the genocide is “an encouraging example for all those who want to build a just and tolerant international community,” he added.
In a letter to Joe Biden, Nicole Pasinian states: “The people of Armenia and Armenians around the world are very enthusiastic about welcoming your message. Genocide of the Armenians is important not only as a tribute to the 1.5 million innocent victims, but also in preventing the recurrence of similar crimes against humanity. “
Joe Biden today acknowledged the Armenian genocide and became the first president of the United States to mark the death of 1.5 million Armenians massacred by the Ottoman Empire in 1915.
More than twenty countries have officially recognized this genocide.
