X’s head of global affairs, Nick Pickles, announced Thursday (5) that he is stepping down after a decade at the social networking company formerly known as Twitter.
Pickles, who joined the company in 2014, said he decided to leave X several months ago and was working with Chief Executive Linda Yaccarino through the transition.
“After more than ten years, tomorrow will be my last day at X. It has been an incredible journey,” he said.
It was not immediately clear what his next plans were or why he made the decision to leave.
OX, owned by Elon Musk, and Nick Pickles did not immediately respond to Reuters requests for comment.
In June, Joe Benarroch, X’s head of business operations, left the company, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing people familiar with the matter.
Pickles joined X as a senior manager in the London office and was named vice president of global affairs for X in 2023 after serving in a variety of roles, according to his LinkedIn profile.
The Financial Times reported that he was the company’s spokesman in battles with several governments, including in Brazil, which announced last week that it was suspending access to the social network in the country.
The popular social media platform failed to meet a deadline imposed by the Supreme Federal Court (STF) to appoint a legal representative in Brazil, which triggered the suspension.
Musk argued that Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes was trying to impose unjustified censorship, while the minister has insisted that X needs regulations on hate speech.
