The large investment program of 1.6 billion euros for the development of drainage and wastewater treatment projects in Eastern Attica, the modernization of the infrastructure, but also the transformation of EYDAP in the context of the implementation of its new strategy, was presented from the stage of the Economist conference by CEO of EYDAP Mr. Haris Sahinis.
Speaking about the initiatives needed to boost growth, Mr. Sahinis underlined the importance of investing in infrastructure through a modern approach that manages to achieve combined goals of achieving value for all stakeholders.
He placed special emphasis both on the digital transformation with the installation of 2.5 million smart meters, and on the horizontal application of ESG criteria, in the design and operation of EYDAP.
The Company’s goal is to distribute zero-carbon water in the Attica basin, but also more widely. In order to achieve this, a series of investments was planned and has begun to be implemented which, among other things, even includes the generation of electricity with RES in order to meet the Company’s needs in the first stage.
“EYDAP’s green transition does not move us from our central objective, as it has been included in our strategy to continue this important achievement of the Company: that is, to continue to ensure quality water at the lowest price in Europe and to produce a multiplier benefit for society and the environment” said Mr. Sahinis.
The CEO of EYDAP also referred to the importance of the stable regulatory environment for the implementation of investments and underlined the close cooperation of the Company with the Authorities and the support that EYDAP receives in order to be able to implement its planning, which has a national dimension, beyond the social, environmental and corporate.
