WSJ: Biden cancels meeting with Scholtz to go to bed

Joe Biden canceled an early evening meeting with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz at the last minute because he needed to go to bed, according to a Wall Street Journal report. The paper said it was an informal meeting in Germany amid the June 2022 G7 summit to discuss Ukraine. Two officials who were there told the WSJ that Secretary of State Anthony Blinken announced that Biden would not give the “present” because he had to rest. According to the report, the chancellor and his aides were surprised by Biden’s absence and Blinken’s appearance.
