The October 25 is the day of pasta lovers, especially those who love traditional Italian pasta dishes, the indispensable and irresistible ones: the World Pasta Day, in which the whole world gathers around the dish that symbolizes Italian tradition and conviviality as well as an icon of the Mediterranean Diet, which continues to grind record numbers. In the last year, that of the pandemic, we ate 17 million tons of pasta, double that of 10 years ago, with Italy as always the leader for consumption (over 23 kilos per person per year), as well as for production and exports.
To celebrate World Pasta Day, the pasta makers of Italian Food Union and IPO (International Pasta Organization) have organized one as always social marathon, which this year is also more a solidarity contest. To participate, just post a photo of a pasta dish with the hashtag #Haveagoodpasta, which will then be uploaded to the dedicated website aldente.worldpastaday.org (as well as on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) until reaching 300 thousand shots, as many as i kilos of pasta that Italian pasta makers will donate to Caritas canteens in four major Italian cities – Milan, Rome, Naples and Palermo – where the pandemic has exacerbated the poverty emergency.
“In the most difficult months, we pasta makers have felt the responsibility to never let Italians and consumers go without pasta,” he says.
