A woman, identified as Diely da Silva, died after being shot in the community of Fontanela, in Vargem Pequena, west of Rio de Janeiro, last Saturday (28). The victim was inside an app car when he was hit by the shot.
According to the Civil Police, the driver of the vehicle was also shot. He was taken to Hospital Lourenço Jorge, in Barra da Tijuca.
Agents from the 31st Military Police Battalion (Recreio dos Bandeirantes) responded to the incident. After medical attention, the driver of the vehicle gave a statement at the police station.
Diely was 34 years old and worked as an accounting manager. She lived in Jundiaí, in the interior of São Paulo, and was in the capital of Rio de Janeiro to spend New Year’s Eve.
The mayor of Jundiaí, Gustavo Martinelli (União Brasil), lamented the young woman’s death on social media:
I deeply sympathize with the family and friends of Diely da Silva, resident of Jundiaí, who lost her life in such a tragic way in Rio de Janeiro. It is unacceptable that violence continues to take innocent lives, causing pain and suffering to so many families. May God comfort the hearts of all who are facing this irreparable loss.
The case is investigated by the Homicide Department, which seeks to identify the person responsible for the crime.
