An eyewitness outside the rally where former President Donald Trump was wounded in a shooting said he saw the gunman climb onto a rooftop and tried to alert police.
“We noticed the guy crawling, crawling like a bear, climbing up the roof of the building next to us, 15 metres away from us,” the witness told BBC News on Saturday (13) after the incident.
“We’re standing there, pointing at the guy climbing up on the roof. We can clearly see him with a rifle,” he continued. The witness added that he notified nearby police and that officers “didn’t know what was going on.”
“I’m thinking to myself, ‘Why is Trump still talking? Why didn’t they take him off the stage?’ I’m standing there pointing at him for two, three minutes, the Secret Service is looking down at us from the top of the barn, I’m pointing at that roof, just standing there like this, and the next thing you know, five gunshots,” he continued.

John Miller, Chief Law Enforcement and Intelligence Analyst at the CNN said the testimony raises many “serious questions.”
“There will be an extraordinarily and painfully detailed examination of who knew what, how it was communicated and who decided to take certain action or not,” he said.
