The only cancer treatment hospital in the Gaza Strip is inoperative after running out of fuel, health authorities in the enclave said on Wednesday (1st).
The director of the Turkish-Palestinian Friendship hospital said in a press conference broadcast on Al-Jazeera TV that the hospital, which mainly treats cancer patients, has run out of fuel and is now out of service.
“We tell the world not to let cancer patients die because the hospital is out of service,” added director Subhi Skaik.
Gaza Strip Health Minister Mai al-Kaila confirmed the director’s remarks in a statement, adding that this brings the total number of hospitals not currently operating in the Strip to 16 of the total 35 units that exist in the enclave. .
“The lives of 70 cancer patients in the hospital are seriously threatened,” said the head of the ministry of the enclave controlled by the radical Islamic group in a statement.
“The number of cancer patients in the Gaza Strip is around 2,000. They live in catastrophic health conditions as a result of continued Israeli aggression in the Strip and the displacement of large numbers of people,” al-Kaila added.
