The Ministry of Infrastructure held this Friday (5), at B3, the auction of two port terminals in the Northeast region.
The Maceió Port Complex – MAC3, in Alagoas, was purchased by EMPAT – Empresa Alagoana de Terminais, represented by Ativa Investimentos, with a proposal for a grant of R$ 15 thousand.
The Salt Terminal of Areia Branca – Tersab, in Rio Grande do Norte, was sold for R$ 100,000 by the Intersal Consortium, represented by the same broker.
The two winning companies were the only bidders for the auctions.
The leasing of the two terminals will guarantee around R$ 222 million in private investments over the 25-year contract and the generation of more than 3,000 jobs, according to the Ministry of Infrastructure.
With an area of 35,114m², the Salt Terminal of Areia Branca is intended for the movement and storage of bulk mineral solids, especially sea salt. The terminal is expected to handle 69.3 million tons over the 25-year contract.
According to the Ministry, 2,526 jobs will be created during the period, with investments of around R$ 164.1 million.
MAC13, on the other hand, concentrates the handling and storage of bulk vegetables, especially sugar. With an area of 71,262m², the port complex is expected to handle 25 million tons during the 25-year contract, with investments of R$ 57.8 million and the creation of 842 jobs during this time.
There was an auction schedule for the port of Mucuripe (MUC59), in Ceará, but the event was postponed. The Ministry of Infrastructure has not yet confirmed the new date.
The largest port auction in Brazilian history is scheduled to take place on November 19, according to the Ministry of Infrastructure. The terminals that will be auctioned on the date:
- Port of Santos/SP – STS08 and STS08A
- Port of Porto Alegre/RS – POA01
- Port of Imbituba/SC – IMB05
- Port of Itaguaí/RJ – ITG03
- Cabedelo/PB Port – AE14
