With new rains, Civil Defense asks the population of Petrópolis to seek safe places

The Civil Defense of Rio de Janeiro recorded, this Sunday (20), 208.2 millimeters of rain in an interval of 2 hours and 30 minutes, in Petrópolis, in the mountainous region of the state.

According to the agency, the volume of water on the roads has begun to decrease, but there are still risks in some places, such as Rua do Imperador, Imperatriz, Coronel Veiga, Washington Luis, Alfredo Pachá, Rua Teresa, Aureliano Coutinho, Alto da Serra, Montecaseros. , Bingen, Saldanha Marinho and also Barão do Rio Branco, Piabanha, Koeler and Ipiranga avenues.

There are no reports of victims so far, however, there were landslides in places that had already been affected before and were interdicted. One of the calls was in a house in Caxambu, on Rua Waldemar Ferreira, which was unoccupied.

According to the Fire Department, until 5:30 pm, the corporation had been called for five incidents in the city, including a landslide threat on Rua 24 de Maio, with no casualties, and the rescue of people stranded.

In case of emergency, the population should call 193 (Fire Department) or 199 (Civil Defense), which has 19 support points structured in the localities to welcome those who need to leave their homes.
