Actress Christina Applegate took the stage at the 2023 Emmy Awards on Monday night (15) to present the first category of the award, Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. Using a cane, she was accompanied by the evening's presenter Anthony Anderson and was thrilled to be applauded by the audience. Christina was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2021.

The last production in which Christina Applegate was present was “Disque Amiga Para Matar” (2019-2022). The actress was already diagnosed with the disease when recording the third and final season of the series.
In an interview with the magazine Varietythe actress spoke about her next steps in acting with the disease.
“We don’t know what my future as an actress will be,” she says. “How can I deal with this? How can I get on a set and decide what I need within my limits, physically? I don’t know who will be as loving and understanding as this group of people were,” she said, referring to the great support she received from the “Disque Amiga Para Matar” crew and cast.
The diagnosis was shared by Christina Applegate on her profile on X, formerly Twitter:
“Hi friends. A few months ago I was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. It was a strange journey. But I have been so supported by people I know who also have this condition. It's been a difficult road. But as we all know, the road continues. Unless some idiot blocks it,” she explained.
“As one of my friends who has multiple sclerosis said, 'we woke up and took the appropriate action.' And that's what I do. So now I ask for privacy while I go through this. Thank you,” she concluded.

According to Albert Einstein Hospital, in multiple sclerosis, nerve damage causes disturbances in communication between the brain and the body. The disease causes many different symptoms, including loss of vision, pain, fatigue and impaired motor coordination. Symptoms vary with each patient.
