THEL Prince William he has been president of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (Bafta) since 2010. And since then he has never appeared on the red carpet of the “British Oscars” without Kate Middleton. This year however, at seventy-seventh edition of the Baftas, William traveled alone. Kate, as you know, is recovering in Adelaide Cottage in Windsor after a delicate abdominal surgery. The participation of the Prince of Wales was anything but a given given his wife's health problems and her diagnosis cancer of father Charles III. Instead William – very elegant in black tuxedo and bow tie – wanted to be in the Royal Festival Hall in London to participate in the ceremony that rewards the best of British cinema and TV. Nonetheless, at the 2024 Baftas the prince did the honors, appearing affable and smiling as always. But in all likelihood the thought of him will have flown, at some point, to last year's ceremony, when on the red carpet Kate Middleton gave us a little “scandal”: parading in front of the public, the princess had placed a light pat on her husband's royal B-side, under the amazed gaze of journalists and fans. The unprecedented scene captured by the cameras had gone around the world, telling the whole story complicity of the couple. Now, however, William appeared on the red carpet for the first time without his wife. That he will return to public, as the Palace revealed, only after Easter.
