Widow of Gal Costa, Wilma Petrillo, applied scams on behalf of the singer, says magazine

The July edition of the magazine “Piauí” brought a special report on the widow of gal Coast who died in November 2022, the businesswoman Wilma Petrillo .

The text features interviews with thirteen people, including friends, former employees and a relative, who reported that Wilma practiced moral harassment, threats and financial scams – in addition to being accused of bankrupting the singer.

“You are going to take such a beautiful beating”

Bruno Prado revealed the article that after approaching Gal and Wilma, the businesswoman borrowed between R$ 10,000 and R$ 15,000 for eye surgery that the artist would have recently done before dying.

The young man said that he would have lent the money, but he did not receive it within the agreed period – and that is how the threats began.

In the report Prado, who is gay, said that he had not yet exposed his sexual orientation to his family, sharing it with the singer’s partner, who would have started to use it against him.

“If you keep demanding me, I’ll do something very nice: I’ll tell your father that you’re a queer”.

“When she said that, I trembled”, he recalled, who decided to write an email to Gal telling the whole story.

The artist then promised that the debt would be paid by the woman – but the threats continued and according to the report, at the time, he even filed a police report.

“You’re going to take such a good beating that you’re going to learn to respect others.” “She would say things like, ‘Aren’t you ashamed of asking an older woman for money, you faggot?’

At another point, he says that he received calls with threats during a trip he made to New York, in the United States and had to change cities, because she ‘knew people who could fix him’.

After the trip, he received a check for the amount he had borrowed and never spoke to either of them again.

Humiliations behind the scenes

“For a long time, I was the guy who didn’t let the bomb go off. Continuing there was important to protect her from what was happening in her career and at home”, said producer Ricardo Frugoli, who worked with both, for the magazine.

He also revealed that he even filed a police report against Wilma for threats – and the dismissal came four days later.

During the conversation, the producer revealed that the representative of MPB lost opportunities for shows in Brazil and Europe because of the behavior of the artist’s wife, which added to unfounded accusations of theft, former employees reporting crises of depression caused by humiliations in behind the scenes and episodes of intrigue.

Ricardo said that he even talked to Gal once, but that she got furious when she suspected that she might be being robbed and they never spoke about it again.

The magazine also revealed that the actress Sonia Braga would also have moved away from the couple after being the victim of an alleged scam, according to the report.

“You’re an old woman, people don’t want to hire you anymore”

Continuing the reports of humiliation, two other employees who worked with the couple’s personal requests, said they witnessed a discussion in 2015, which came to blows.

“Money comes in and disappears, debts keep coming. What kind of businesswoman are you?” asked Gal. “You’re an old woman, people don’t want to hire you anymore”, countered Wilma.

The report also reveals that Gal did not perform some shows because her companion did not sign the documents.

In addition, she allegedly said that “if I let go of Wilma, she takes half of everything I have, without ever having really worked to get anything”.

The reports still have statements about Wilma as “the worst person I have dealt with in this field”.

“In addition to being rude, she made last-minute changes and applied surprise fees”, said producer Rodrigo Bruggermann to “Piauí”.

He also revealed that Gal, unlike other MPB singers, did not make a special appearance in anyone’s shows because Wilma “probably didn’t even let the invitations reach her”.

Gal Costa sings Clube da Esquina with Marina Sena in the last studio recording

Businessman Maurício Pessoa explained that in 2013, he had to advance 80% of a sponsorship he had signed with Natura Musical for six shows and the recording of a live album in which the singer would perform songs by Lupicínio Rodrigues.

Wilma only accepted the project after she received R$ 560,000 and the first shows only took place in 2015 – but the album, which was scheduled for 2017, was not recorded because no one showed up. .

“Wilma always said that Gal’s schedule was tight”, adding that Wilma claimed that the artist did not have a schedule for the agreed date.

Natura did not pay the remaining amount, of R$ 140 thousand and Maurício was left with a loss of more than R$ 1 million.

Debts and more debts

According to the report, Gal left her only son, Gabriel, the most valuable item, a property purchased for BRL 5 million in 2020, in the Jardins neighborhood, in São Paulo.

Respondents who worked with the artist also reported that until her death she says that the singer’s account was “a black hole”.

For them, the singer’s finances were undermined during the period she was with Wilma.

The debts are related to going to restaurants, delays in Gabriel’s school fees, employee payments and even the United States Internal Revenue Service.

Including, the widow sold Gal’s property in New York, in the United States, and did not pay the taxes due – and therefore, they did not return to the country, for fear of being arrested.

Wilma would even have barred a show at Carnegie Hall in New York.

“The next time they call, say that Gal doesn’t like to perform in the United States”, said Wilma. When commenting with the singer on Wilma’s speech, she denied it. “That is a lie”.

remoteness and silence

The magazine even brought quotes from Guto Burgos, Gal’s brother, but who did not participate in his sister’s last years. He said that since 1997 he has been removed by Wilma from the artist.

“Please, I don’t want to talk about this anymore. It’s a subject that hurts me a lot,” he said.

He says that Gal had several properties registered in his name that earned him rent, but that she died without knowing it.

“He also had properties in Salvador, Trancoso and New York. How it hurts to know that she died without any of that. It looks like all her work was for nothing,” she lamented.

He said that Gal wanted to be buried in the São João Batista Cemetery, in Rio de Janeiro, next to her mother, where she bought a perpetual tomb – and that he passed the message on to the widow.

However, she decided that the body would stay in São Paulo, in her family’s mausoleum, in the Consolação Cemetery.

already the medium Halu Gamashi, who was also close with Gal, had to step aside and start meeting her in secret. She also recalled, in 1995, that she heard Wilma ask if Gal wasn’t ashamed of being so fat – but she kept silent.

“You’re thinking that’s who, Nana Caymmi?”.

“Piauí” said it looked for Wilma Petrillo, but the widow even blocked the reporting team. Afterwards, her lawyer, Rodrigo Salinas, sent a message with a written “warning” to the magazine not to publish the article, under penalty of suffering “the appropriate legal measures”.

A CNN also contacted Rodrigo Salinas’ office, but was informed that they cannot talk about it, as well as share any other contact or content regarding the complaints presented in the magazine’s report. Wilma was also contacted, but the report was unable to contact Gal’s widow.
