It has been a long time since SYRIZA had started to “pluck” the daisy of the elections. For months now, he has described the government and the prime minister as “dangerous” and “catastrophic”, but there has been no convincing answer to “if this is so because you are not calling for elections”.

If not just one: We are responsible and we will not seek to drag the country into elections in the midst of a pandemic. An argument that is plausible, but it collapsed from the moment that its president, that is, for weeks, repeated at every opportunity that Mr. Mitsotakis neither wants nor can manage the pandemic in terms of public health protection.

What was left so that the accusation would not be “meteoric” and that he would not be treated with scorn and condescension as “afraid to ask for elections” from his political opponents? The official wording of the election request.

After exhaustive discussions of Mr. Tsipras inside and outside party organs, the cube was thrown last Saturday and he finally asked for them. Since then, he has been asking for them almost on a daily basis, in all his public interventions, and all his executives are doing the same in a coordinated manner.

The “key” for the change of “line” in SYRIZA regarding when they should ask for elections was obviously the publication of the study Tsiodra-Lytra for the ICUs, the deaths and the deficits of the National Public Health System. She was the one who infuriated Koumoundourou on the one hand and on the other hand offered the opportunity for SYRIZA to change its attitude towards “no elections in the midst of a pandemic”. The party of the official opposition was looking for the opportunity, it is certain, first of all for reasons of mobilization and demonstration of power against a KINAL that knows great popular fame under its new leadership, after the election of Nikos Androulakis.

At the same time, however, Alexis Tsipras and SYRIZA were asked to have fun, in a direct and dynamic way, with suspicions and impressions that “he does not want to make a dynamic opposition” and remains in the tactics of “ripe fruit”, which were mainly expressed by his own electoral audience.

Escalation

This is followed by an escalation in both the tones and the political movements of SYRIZA. Rumors “non-existent from the beginning” that had circulated on the day of the budget vote that SYRIZA, through Alexis Tsipras, is preparing to file a motion of censure, were not reasonably confirmed. A motion of censure in a process such as the Budget, which is a vote of confidence for the government, which certainly enjoys the warm support of its MPs, would have no political logic. It is, however, a parliamentary “weapon”, which Mr. Tsipras will choose to use as a lever of pressure somewhere below.

How KINAL is doing after the referendum triumph

In the Movement for Change, they enjoy the popular launch of the party after the promotion of Nikos Androulakis to the leadership, but the steps they are taking are both careful and in a specific direction.

The maintenance of the strategy for an autonomous course is unquestionable, hence they do not react to the flirtation of Alexis Tsipras and SYRIZA, nor do they enter into discussions and scenarios about post-election collaborations. However, they are not going to enter into the logic of “equal distances” between N.D and SYRIZA.
