Who was Max Azzarello, 37, who set himself on fire outside Trump's trial – 'One of the smartest people I knew'

The “conspiracy theorist,” as the New York Post calls him, Max Azzarello, died Friday night, a few hours after setting himself on fire in a Manhattan park across the street from the courthouse where former President Donald Trump's trial was underway. The 37-year-old Florida man succumbed to severe burns he suffered after setting himself on fire at Collect Pond Park. He threw leaflets into the air, which contained references to US President George W. Bush and former Vice President Al Gore. He then set himself on fire, in front of horrified citizens. The self-described “investigator” traveled to New York in recent days from Florida without his family's knowledge and had protested in front of the court. After the self-immolation, police officers arrived in the area, while an ambulance took him to the burn unit of a nearby hospital in critical condition.
