THE singer and composer Cristina Buarque died this Sunday (20) to 74 years . Throughout the career, which began in the late 1960s, the artist released records that helped write the history of samba and from MPB (Brazilian popular music) .
Born in São Paulo, Maria Cristina Buarque de Holanda was born on December 23, 1950. Sérgio Buarque de Holanda and the pianist Maria Amelia Cesário Alvim had six brothers, including Chico Buarque and the singers Ana de Hollanda and Miucha who died in 2018.
The artist released more than five albums during her trajectory dedicated to music. The first, “Cristina” it was in 1974. In it, he recorded compositions of known names of Brazilian music. In 2007, alongside the Terreiro Grande samba group, he launched one of his latest works: “Cristina Buarque and Terreiro Grande” .
Averse to the spotlight, the information of Cristina’s death was released by one of her five children, ZECA FERREIRA on social networks. “A lifetime of love for the craft and the good shadow […] Human being that I have ever known. Go in peace, mother, ”he wrote.
Silvia Buarque Chico’s daughter also lamented death. “My aunt Cristina, my love. Forever with me,” wrote the actress.
The Bip Bip Bar Samba stronghold in Copacabana, in Rio de Janeiro highlighted the legacy left by the artist. “Formed generations with his recordings and repertoire, always generous with the material and knowledge he has accumulated during years of samba wheels.”
Cristina Buarque fought a Cancer . The cause of death, however, was not disclosed by the family.
