Who are the Brazilian cardinals who vote for the conclave and can be Papa

The Catholic Church defines who will be the next Pope through a sympathetic and secular voting process known as “Conclave.”

Who participates in this method to choose a new head of state for the Vatican are the cardinals.

However, they are not all members of the so -called Cardinian College who are entitled to vote when entering the Sistine Chapel for the Papal Conclave.

The apostolic constitution “Universid Dominici Gregis”, promulgated by Pope John Paul II in 1996, points out that only 80 -year -old cardinals will only participate in the election and that there will be a limit of 120 voters.

The Vatican and PhD in Social Sciences from the Pontifical Gregorian University, based in Rome, Filipe Domingues, explained to CNN that this limit of voters should not be followed in the next conclave, as the Catholic Church currently has 135 cardinals under 80 and able to vote.

“It’s an indication to prevent the college from getting too big,” he said.

In the list of voters cardinals are seven Brazilian cardinals who must participate in the voting process to choose the next Pope.
