Where do chefs eat? With Seiji Enokizono, from Maza Restaurante, in São Paulo

Born and raised in small Piedade, in the interior of São Paulo, Seiji Enokizono he had contact with cooking from an early age: while his parents worked in the fields, he prepared his own food at home.

It was at the age of 15 that he became really enchanted with the kitchen, when he started working in a restaurant owned by his relatives.

After graduating in the area and seeking international certificates of japanese cuisine the big city called him: he ventured into São Paulo at the invitation of a restaurant in 2019.

In the capital of São Paulo, he made a career in imakay house in Itaim Bibi that values ​​the Nikkei cuisine which blends Peruvian dishes with Japanese flavors and techniques.

Currently, Seiji is ahead of the maza , a Japanese restaurant also at Itaim Bibi that welcomes diners with a cherry tree in the middle of the room. The house is where the professional prioritizes products and inputs from the family’s farm, from local producers and also from Brazilian fish.

O Hidden by 2nd Floor this is where I had one of my first and best experiences with ramen after I arrived in São Paulo.

The broth and pasta are always impeccable (ramens from R$60) and the buns are wonderful.

me and the Thomas Troisgros we’ve created a good friendship, but other than that, your cozy kitchen makes me happy every time I have a meal at Chez Claude.

The house features well-executed pastas and meats. Not only Asian cuisine lives a Japanese chef!
