What to expect from the 2nd round duel between Jerônimo Rodrigues and ACM Neto in Bahia

After a surge in the last weeks of the first round of elections, candidate Jerônimo Rodrigues (PT) surpassed the former mayor of Salvador ACM Neto (União Brasil) and was only around 45 thousand votes away from being elected governor of Bahia in October 2. The two will now face each other again in the second round, on the 30th.

One of the factors that contributed to the PT’s growth was the good vote among the Bahians of the candidate for president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), who had 4 million more votes in the state, in the first round, than Jair Bolsonaro ( PL).

With over 11 million voters, Bahia is the fourth largest electoral college in the country and, for the first time in 28 years, will have a second round in the elections for governor.

In this episode of E Tem Mais, Carol Nogueira presents an overview of expectations for the dispute between Bahians. To take stock of the electoral race in the state, the political scientist Paulo Fábio Dantas, a professor at the Federal University of Bahia (UFBA), and the reporter for CNN in Salvador Silvana Freire.
