One SuperLua is a scientific term created to identify when a full moon appears larger and brighter in the sky . In 2025, it will be possible to observe the phenomenon in Three nights in the last quarter of the year.

In an interview with CNN the astrophysicist of the National Observatory (ON) Ricardo Ogando explained that the event happens when the moon “is close to its perigue, the closest point to the earth in its orbit”, but points out that there are no scientific bases for the correct identification of this moment.

The phenomenon is not uncommon and appears as opposite to microlyuns, which can be up to 14% smaller and 30% less brilliant than the supercies.

During each 27 -day orbit around the earth, the moon reaches the perigue when it is about 363,300 km from Earth and heyday – more distant point – when it is about 405,500 km from our planet.

However, the exact distance of these points varies, and some supercies may come closer than others.
