What is known about Taylor Swift's new album

  • Name, date and cover announced during the Grammys

In the announcement made on the Grammy stage, Taylor revealed that the album is called “The Tortured Poets Department” and that it arrives on April 19th of this year, just over two months before from now on. Additionally, the star revealed that the project has been in production for two years.

Shortly after the release of the new project, Taylor released the cover of the new project on her social media. All in black and white, the image shows the artist lying down from her nose to her thighs.

In the post on the networks, Taylor delivered what appears to be part of the lyrics of one of the songs. “All is fair in love and poetry,” she wrote. Furthermore, fans are already theorizing about the concept of the new project, based on a “letter” that the star usually publishes before releasing her albums:

“Then I step into the spotlight
My stained coat of arms
My muses, acquired like bruises
My talismans and charms
The tick, tick, tick of love bombs
My black ink veins
Yours sincerely, the Chairman of the Department of Tortured Poets.”

Taylor also changed her profile photo to a new image of herself also in black and white.

A promotional photo of the artist about the new project is also already circulating on the networks.

  • Tracks and song name

On Taylor Swift's official website, the physical versions of the album are already available, on CD, vinyl and cassette tape. There, it was announced that “The Tortured Poets Society” has 16 tracks in the digital edition and a bonus titled “The Manuscript” (The Manuscript, in Portuguese translation), for those who purchase any of the physical versions. You can purchase the disc only through sale in the United States, for now.

  • Rumors

Shortly after Taylor Swift's announcement, Keleigh Teller, a friend of the singer, released a photo of Marilyn Monroe, exciting fans who began to theorize about the style of the singer's new album being reminiscent of old Hollywood.

Furthermore, attentive fans also noticed that the name “The Tortured Poets Department” is very similar to the name of a Whatsapp group belonging to Taylor's ex, actor Joe Alwyn.

This is because in an interview with Variety magazine at the end of 2022, he revealed that he had a conversation group with fellow actor Paul Mescal called “The Tortured Man Club”.

It is worth remembering that Joe Alwyn and Taylor Swift ended their six-year relationship in early 2023.

In the last edition of the Grammy Awards, Taylor Swift won in the categories of “Best Pop Vocal Album” and “Album of the Year” for the singer's tenth studio album “Midnights”, released in October 2022.

With her second prize, Taylor became the only artist to win the Grammy category four times. Previously, Swift was tied with Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder and Paul Simon.
