What is Brat? Understand why green took over social media

In recent days, social media has been flooded with a specific shade of strong green. Always used in association with the word “brat”, which in English means “brat”, “brat”, the color is part of the visual identity of singer Charli XCX’s new project.

The 31-year-old Brit will release her sixth studio album on Friday (7) and it is precisely this that has caused this green “brat” wave on X, formerly Twitter, and on Instagram, as this is the English word for the disc.

She, who will come to Brazil to do a show at ZIG Studio on June 22nd, announced the new project on April 3rd. The album is a continuation of “CRASH”, released in 2022, and promises to be a disco club built around artistic references and social commentary.

In addition to promoting “Brat” using small trucks covered with LEDs in cities like London and Paris, the singer also changed all of her album covers to the visual identity of the new album, keeping only the symbolic color of each of them.

Charli also had the help of Brazilian fans, who posted several memes involving the name and color of the album cover.

On Instagram, the fashion is to put a green square in the Notes field, which has been done massively by admirers of the voice of “Boom Clap” and “1999”.

The movement was also accompanied by a series of brands, such as Burger King, Globo, Multishow, Duolingo and Google, which changed their logos to apply the green “brat” or created memes involving the codes for Charli’s new album.

Charli XCX and Brazil

In addition to performing in Brazil on June 22, in São Paulo, Charli also inserted a funk beat into “Brat”. The rhythm is present in the song “Everything is Romantic”.

The British singer’s show will be in the “DJ Set” format, in which the artist’s pre-recorded songs are mixed. Tickets are already sold out.
