“We hit an oil installation in Russia” say the Ukrainians

Drone attack on an oil storage facility in Russian territory bordering Ukraine unleash it Kyiv as a Ukrainian military source told AFP, as such attacks against oil facilities in Russia are multiplying.

According to this source, the military intelligence services of Ukraine (GUR) hit this facility located in the village of Dolgoe, Gubkin regionabout 90 km north of Belgorod, the regional capital.

Earlier, as reported by the Athens News Agency citing AFP local emergency services confirmed they were trying to put out a fire that broke out in an oil tankclarifying that there are no injuries and that the fire has been brought under control.

Regional governor Vychislav Gladkov reported on Telegram that an explosion caused a “fire at an infrastructure facility” in the Gubkin region.

Since the Russian offensive in Ukraine began in February 2022, Russian territory has been a frequent target of strikes attributed to Kiev, which in recent weeks have particularly targeted oil storage facilities and refineries.

According to Gladkov, the Belgorod region has also been the target in the past 24 hours of several drone attacks and mortar fire that destroyed cars in several communities.

For its part, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that it destroyed three Ukrainian drones over the Belgorod region during the night.

Today, also, a railway station was the target of a drone attack in the Russian Kursk region, which also borders Ukraine.

“The Gluchkovo railway station was targeted by strikes from the Ukrainian side,” Roman Starovoit, the governor of the Kursk region, wrote in a Telegram post, clarifying that the attack “did not cause any injuries.”

The strikes caused a fire that was quickly brought under control and damage to high-voltage lines, causing a power outage at the Gluchkovo station and the nearby village of Kulbaki, according to the same source.

A drone was also shot down this morning over the Kursk region, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
