War in Ukraine: Kyiv accuses Russia of seizing 400,000 tonnes of grain

The Ukrainian government accuses Russia of withdrawing 400,000 tons cereals from areas of the country occupied by its armed forces since 24 February. This is roughly a third of the grain stocks in Kherson, Zaporizhia, Danieck and Luhansk, Ukrainian Agriculture Minister Taras Vysotsky said in a speech on Ukrainian state television last night.

Before the eruption conflict, 1.3 million tonnes of grain were stored in these areas for daily supply and sowing. “There were no strategic stocks,” the minister said, warning that if available quantities were further reduced, there was a risk of famine.

The Kiev class shakes up painful memories and old wars.

According to Ukrainian imgs, about 4 million people starved to death in Ukraine between 1932 and 1933, when the then leader of the Soviet Union (“dictator” for the Ukrainians), Joseph Stalinimposed collectivization of farmers and ordered the confiscation of grain.

However, starvation deaths were also reported in southern Russia and Kazakhstan at the same time, according to the German News Agency and the Athenian News Agency.

For Ukraine, it was a “genocide” ordered by Moscow, which it calls Golodomor, “Great Famine.”
