War in Ukraine: Belgrade willing to host peace talks

Ready to hold peace talks between Russia and Ukraine in Belgrade, Serbian president says Alexander Vuτςiτς.

Commenting on Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov’s remarks at a news conference on Monday that Serbia’s capital should be the seat of peace talks, Vuτςiτς expressed his country’s readiness to help end the war. “It would be a wonderful development. “If anyone believes that Belgrade is the best place to negotiate, Serbia is ready to offer it to our Ukrainian and Russian friends,” he said on a private TV channel.

Vucic, according to the correspondent of the Athenian-Macedonian News Agency in Belgrade, revealed that in the past, in 2014, secret meetings were held in Belgrade between Russia and Ukraine on the occasion of the crisis in Crimea.

It is noted that Serbia did not impose sanctions on Russia and with a delay of six days condemned the invasion of Ukraine, indirectly, supporting a relevant resolution of the UN General Assembly.
