War in Ukraine: At least two dead in Kyiv from Russian strikes – “Critical” situation in the country

At least two people were killed today from Russian strikes which were aimed at essential infrastructure in Kyiv and caused power outages and water supply on one bank of the capital, the Ukrainian prosecutor’s office announced, while the Ukrainian presidency characterized “critical” the situation in the whole country.

“The Russian armed forces have launched missile attack against an energy facility on the left bank of the capital Kyiv: according to preliminary information, two people were killed and one was injured,” the Ukrainian prosecutor’s office said in a statement.

The Ukrainian presidency has announced, as reported by APE-MPE, that the situation in Ukraine is “critical” after the Russian strikes of the last few days on power plants as they cause significant power outages as winter approaches.

The situation is now critical across the countrybecause our regions depend on each other,” presidential official Kirylo Tymoshenko said on television, adding that “it is necessary for the whole country to prepare for the fact that there may be interruptions in electricity, water and heating.”

Earlier today apartment building in the port city of Mykolayiv, in southern Ukraine, was also hit by a Russian missile and firefighters pulled the body of a man from the rubble, according to an eyewitness cited by Reuters. This missile caused one of the three explosions that were heard early this morning in this city and completely destroyed one wing of the apartment building located in the center of Mykolife, where it opened a huge crater.
