Since the beginning of the Russian invasion, at least 437 children have been killed in Ukraine, the office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine announced.
More than 837 children have been injured, according to a tally that officials say is not final as they continue to verify information from battle zones, liberated areas and territory still held by Russian forces.
The region of eastern Donetsk is the one that has been most affected. In it, 423 children have been killed or injured, the prosecutor’s office said.
The United Nations has said at least 16,295 civilians have been killed since Russia’s invasion began on February 24, which Kyiv and Western leaders denounce as an unprovoked act of aggression. Moscow denies targeting civilians.
