‘Wagner fighters’ threaten chilling revenge after Prigozhin’s death – ‘We’re on, get ready for us’

Masked men claiming to be part of the Wagner Group have released a chilling video vowing revenge following the death of their leader Yevgeny Prigozhin. The mercenary leader, who led a brief rebellion against the Russian military earlier this year, presumed dead after plane crash north of Moscow, killing all 10 on board.

Prigozhin was on the plane, according to Russia’s civil aviation service, which cited the airline. The crash immediately raised suspicion as the fate of the founder of the private military company Wagner has been the subject of intense speculation since he organized the mutiny, writes the British Mirror.

At the time, President Vladimir Putin denounced the uprising as “treason” and a “stab in the back” and vowed to take revenge. But the charges against Prigozhin were soon dropped. Wagner’s chief, whose troops were among Russia’s best fighting forces in Ukraine, has been allowed to retreat to Belarus, while reportedly appearing in Russia from time to time.

In a video released afterward the crash, masked men appear to be vowing revenge on Moscow. In the video a man says: “There’s a lot of talk right now about what Team Wagner is going to do. We can tell you one thing, we’re starting, get ready for us.” The video released online has yet to be officially confirmed by the team.

The crash comes after Russian media reported that a top general linked to Prigozhin had been fired as air force commander.

The plane, which had three crew members and seven passengers on board and was en route from Moscow to St. Petersburg, went down nearly 300 kilometers north of the capital, officials were quoted as saying by Russia’s state news agency Tass.
