Volodymyr Zelensky: Tough battles, but the Ukrainian army dominates

Its president Ukrainian, Volodymyr Zelenskyadmitted on Thursday (3/8) that the counterattack to liberate occupied territories from Russian forces it is difficult, but he assured that the Ukrainian army dominates the battlefield.

“The invaders are trying with all their might to stop our men. The battles are very violent”Zelensky said in a video message released tonight. “Whatever the enemy does, the Ukrainian army dominates”he claimed.

Kiev’s counteroffensive began in June, with the aim of expelling Russian troops from the occupied territories of eastern and southern Ukraine. However, to date, it has not yielded spectacular results.

President Zelenskiy spoke of fierce fighting on the eastern front – especially in the regions of Liman, Bakhmut and Abdiivka – as well as in the southern part of the country.

In 2022, the Ukrainian army liberated territory around Kherson and Kharkiv in short-lived operations. However, at the moment it is facing Russian forces that have in the previous months shielded their defense lines.

Kiev has warned that the counteroffensive is expected to be long and difficult, asking for more military help from its allies.
