Volleyball coach died on Christmas Eve, funeral stopped: husband investigated

The funeral was already scheduled, but was cancelled. The Ravenna prosecutor's office wants certainties about the death of the volleyball coach and physical education teacher whose death dates back to Christmas Eve. The 61 year old Paola Bolognesi she died in her home in Bagnacavallo where she lived with her husband and her father, who was elderly and ill.

In the file opened by the Prosecutor's Office there is a suspect on the loose: the woman's husband, Miguel Soto. An autopsy has been ordered on the body of the sixty-one year old.

According to what was reported, Paola Bolognesi suffered from one cardiac pathology due to a malformation. Precisely because there had been worrying episodes and illnesses connected to this, the death was recorded as having occurred from natural causes. Only later, from an inspection of the body in the presence of the carabinieri, were other details noticed. On the body some stains were found, perhaps bruises. You need to understand whether they are consequent to the fall due to the fatal illness or previous ones and in this case it would be necessary to understand their origin.

There would also be evidence of the difficult relationship with her husband. The cell phones of the woman and her husband and their respective cars were seized. Paola Bolognesi and the Cuban Miguel Soto had been together for about fifteen years, first at a distance and then increasingly closer since he was “seasonally employed”. The lawyer also reported that Paola Bolognesi had booked heart valve surgery for the end of January.

According to the defense, the husband explained that the day before her death the woman had gone to Castrocaro to have spa treatments, while he instead would have looked after her father-in-law. The two slept in separate rooms, but the man says there were no problems between them. “She had a hot temper, when she got upset I went to my room until she got over it.”

This is the reconstruction of the night of his death. «I went to bed around 9pm and at 10pm I was already asleep, so much so that when Paola came home I didn't notice. Lon the morning of the 24th I heard the alarm continuing to ring, it was around seven. I went to see what had happened, Paola was on her back, with one arm stretched out of the bed.” Next to the bed, the device for measuring blood pressure and a lemon.
