Volkswagen brands have suspended all paid activity on Twitter until further notice, a company spokesman said on Wednesday.
Earlier this month, the owner of the Audi, VW, Seat, Cupra, Lamborghini, Bentley, Ducati and Porsche brands said it recommended suspending paid advertising on Twitter until further notice following Elon Musk’s acquisition of the social network.
A spokesperson for the automaker said all brands followed the recommendation, while Audi opted to stop organic activities such as direct postings and only respond to customer inquiries on the website.
WirtschaftsWoche magazine earlier reported that Audi had stopped all activity on the social media platform, citing company sources.
“We are monitoring the situation closely and will decide next steps depending on developments,” an Audi spokesman added in an emailed statement to Reuters.
Audi, which typically displays near-daily activity on Twitter, has not posted on the social network since Nov. 1. Elon Musk took over Twitter at the end of October.
