Now users can view videos and broadcasts in high quality. 7 resolution options up to 4K have been added to the video player settings, automatic selection will be enabled by default based on the technical characteristics of the device and the speed of the Internet. The function will work both in mobile applications on Android and iOS, and in the desktop version of VKontakte.
In connection with the addition of 4K-resolution for “Video VKontakte”, the maximum size of uploaded files has been revised – up to 256 GB. According to the social network, the increased limit will open up “ample opportunities for professional and semi-professional authors” with ultra-high definition cameras. Also on Android and iOS, background playback in the “picture-in-picture” mode has become available: a separate button is implemented in the video player interface for switching to the mini-window format.
