The VKontakte team announced the launch of a new function of the social network – on the VK Video platform, they introduced instant video processing technology so that content becomes available to users immediately after downloading.
As the developers explain, other popular video services need to fully download and process the video for efficient distribution and the ability to choose quality.
VK Video technologies allow you to process a video stream in all necessary formats and resolutions in real time. The video is processed segment by segment, so viewers do not have to wait for the process to complete for the entire video – they can start watching it immediately after uploading to the platform.
For example, a short video file of 1 GB is available for viewing on VK Video instantly after being uploaded by the author to the platform, while on other resources it will take from 3 to 10 minutes to process it. Also, processing of long videos in high resolution, occupying tens of gigabytes, will also be several times faster than other services.
New VK Video technology allows viewers to quickly access content at the optimal resolution for their device and network conditions, as well as seamlessly switch between different formats.
